The Project

EU aims to reach climate neutrality by 2050. This goal can be achieved if citizens are given an equal opportunity to act towards it.

We are GRETA, a project that paves the way to active energy citizenship and clean energy transition. Energy citizenship means that every one of us can participate in decarbonisation actions.

GRETA wants to understand how energy citizenship works. What kind of knowledge, access to power, technology or financial resources are needed to become an active energy citizen?

From 2021 to 2023, we will study energy communities in Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain. Our findings and guidelines will help EU policymakers to encourage active citizen participation.
